1952 Contax D was made at the Zeiss Ikon factory in Dresden in Soviet Occupied (East) Germany. The camera is a 35mm pentaprism SLR. After much legal wrangling the Zeiss name was dropped altogether in 1959.  The East German Zeiss became VEB Pentacon and later versions of this camera the Pentacon F.  Note the Carl Zeiss Jena Biotar f2 / 58mm lens
