1957 Leica Ig is the last Leica screwmount model made, production ending in 1963.  The Leica Ig is the successor to the If and is the only screwmount camera with the word 'Leica' engraved on the front of the camera. This camera has the same profile as the IIIg but without the viewfinder/rangefinder incorporated into the top plate. As with both the Ic and If there are two accessory shoes mounted for attaching a separate viewfinder and rangefinder. The rewind knob is partially recessed into the top plate.  As with the Ic and the If, the Ig is intended for scientific or visoflex use.  This Ig has the faster 1957 Elmar f2.8 / 50mm lens introduced in 1957 and produced in both screwmount and bayonet mount for the M series.
