1962 Leica M1 with a Visoflex IIa
reflex housing attached, also introduced in 1962. The Visoflex IIa has
an optional automatic mirror return not offered on the Visoflex
II. The Visoflex attempted to turn a rangefinder camera into a
psuedo SLR. The M1 was introduced in 1959 and was intended for
scientific or Visoflex use. The M1 is an M2 without a rangefinder
and the bright line finders are for 35 and 50mm only, the 90mm finder
being omitted. The M1 also had the self timer and the frame line
preview lever omitted. The blanked off rangefinder window has M1
engraved on it. (see picture) This example is shown with a rare black
Leitz Wetzlar Elmar f3.5 / 65mm Visoflex lens and a Leitz Canada
Elmarit f2.8 / 135mm telephoto lens.
